Haaretz: 35 suicides among Israeli troops as mental health crisis deepens

Since the beginning of the Gaza war, at least 35 Israeli soldiers have died by suicide, according to Haaretz. The Israeli army faces severe mental health issues, with over 9,000 troops seeking psychological treatment.

AhlulBayt News Agency: At least 35 Israeli soldiers have taken their own lives since the beginning of the war on Gaza, according to a report published by Haaretz. The newspaper cited an Israeli military official, confirming the figures as part of a worsening mental health crisis within the army.

The report states that the Israeli army has buried many soldiers who died by suicide without holding military funerals or making public announcements.

Regarding troop conditions, Haaretz quoted a military official revealing that thousands of reservists deployed in Gaza have sought medical attention for psychological disorders.

According to the publication, the number of Israeli soldiers receiving mental health treatment since the start of the war exceeds 9,000, while the army continues to enlist individuals with pre-existing mental health issues due to a shortage of troops.

Haaretz further exposed that the Israeli military has been conscripting individuals suffering from trauma and mental illnesses into reserve forces, even while they are undergoing medical treatment.

One military commander, quoted by Haaretz, admitted that due to widespread refusal among soldiers to continue fighting, the army is being forced to recruit individuals with unstable mental health.
